Governor-Elect John Bel Edwards is busy putting together his team, but he wants Louisiana residents to know he plans to "govern the state from the center, not the far left."

He's  working to reassure business and political leaders that he will bring "a centrist approach to his leadership plan." The Democrat told guests at the annual Council for a Better Louisiana that he will not govern from "the far left."

But he did tell the group he will push for several key democratic causes including a higher minimum wage, equal pay for women and the expansion of Louisiana's Medicaid program. He did reach out to lawmakers, lobbyists, business leaders and state leaders; urging them to work in collaboration with his administration.

Edwards will be sworn in on January 11th.
