Interstate 20 westbound is closed between Old Minden Road and Airline Drive because of a multi-vehicle wreck Monday morning.

Bossier City police are working the scene of an accident involving about a dozen vehicles on I-20 westbound on the overpass over railroad tracks behind Pierre Bossier Mall.

Police say traffic is being directed off at Industrial Drive onto U.S. Highway 80.

Two people suffered minor injuries in the wreck and were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

"It appears diesel fuel that had been spilled onto the roadway by an unknown vehicle prior to the crash may be to blame for causing some of the vehicles involved to spin out of control resulting in a chain reaction crash," explained Bossier City spokesman Mark Natale. "It appears the suspected diesel fuel spill starts in the vicinity of Airline Drive and goes west into Shreveport."

The best alternate routes around the closure is taking either I-220 or U.S. Highway 80 and are advised to avoid the area.

The Seize the Deal Traffic Hotline is open 24/7 to report any problems on the roads.  If you see something, let us know at (318) 687-ROAD.
