UPDATE: Man Murdered in Shooting on I-20 in Shreveport

UPDATE: Shreveport police tell KEEL News the victim of the early morning shooting on I-20 has died. The interstate will be closed while the investigation continues.

Police issued some more details about the shooting:

Officers responded to a shooting at Interstate 20W/Fairfield Av. While working an accident at interstate 20W/Interstate 49, officers observed 2 vehicles racing down the interstate firing shots. A red Jeep was struck multiple times by gunfire, the driver was struck once and has been transported by EMS with a life threatening injury. A white sedan was observed fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed. Violent Crimes was notified.

SHREVEPORT, LA - Shreveport police are working a shooting on I-20 that apparently left one person wounded. The shooting happened at about 2am Monday morning on the interstate westbound near the Fairfield exit.

All traffic is being diverted off of the interstate at Fairfield. Motorists are being re-routed onto East Texas in front of the police station to I-49 and back on to I-20.

Police have roped off the highway while they search for shell casings and other evidence at the scene. We don't know yet if this was a road rage incident or something else.

Details about this shooting are expected to be released later today.
