With the holiday season right around the corner, and a usual escalation in armed robberies during that time, Shreveport police and Crime Stoppers are reminding citizens of a crime-fighting initiative designed to get illegally-possessed weapons off the streets. It's called "Don't Shoot, I Want to Grow Up," a program that offers rewards to people who anonymously inform police of suspects who are illegally carrying or possessing a firearm. Shreveport-Caddo Crime Stoppers will pay $200 for an illegal handgunand $500 for any illegal rifle or shotgun seized. That means a little more cash in your pocket for holiday shopping.
