Rob Shadoin, State Representative from Ruston, talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the special legislative session, the sixth of called by Gov. John Bel Edwards in only two years.

Shadoin, a Republican, is going against the fiscal conservatives in the legislature by siding with the Governor in his call for more revenue to make up the state's $648 million shortfall. "We've been very polarized in the legislature and I'm hoping now that we've been through these drills several times that people who disagree with one another can sit down and actually talk with each other. and say, 'Let's seek solutions.'"

In a weekend social media post The Ruston rep which expressed support for JBE's position. "I will support the governor when I feel that he is right, says Shadoin, "I am tired of the trite rhetoric, over and over again, that because John Bel is a Democrat he can't have any ideas and because the Republicans are trying to hold the line they're being obstructionist. Somewhere in the middle is the truth."
