Elvis returns to Shreveport this weekend... the largest short film festival prize of $50,000 awaits one lucky film-maker... spooky treats as we head into Halloween... and comedy fun... all await you this weekend in Downtown Shreveport.

It's Film Prize Weekend!  The Louisiana Film Prize is the brain-child of Shreveporter, and amazing human, Gregory Kallenberg. Because it is now part of Prize Fest, what is now called Film Prize was started in 2012 with a cash prize of $50,000, the largest any short film festival competition in the world.  20 short films, minimum of 5 minutes, to a maximum length of 15 minutes are broken into 2 slates of 10 films each, and are shown in multiple venues in downtown.  Filmgoers then vote on their favorite films in a really fun weekend.

The Shreveport Symphony is so much more than Beethoven, Brahm, and Rachmaninoff.  Although they do those very well, they also present other popular programs throughout the year like The Music of Led Zeppelin, their ever-popular Holiday Pops series, and John Williams: Movie Masterpieces.  And this weekend, Elvis returns to Shreveport in the symphony's program, "Elvis is in the Building" starring the Graceland's 2022 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Champion, Victor Treviño, Jr.

It's going to be a busy weekend for member of the Shreveport Symphony as they present a special Sunday program on the grounds of Caddo Common for Spooky Symphony.  Come enjoy music from Pirates of the Caribbean, Ghostbusters, and more while you dine at food trucks, enjoy hands-on art activities and more. And if you come in costume you could win prizes!  This Sunday at the 800 block of Texas from 2-4PM, and admission is free.

As part of their 30 Days of Fright, the Robinson Film Center presents Death Becomes Her Tuesday, October 24th at 6P.  You might remember this dark comedy starring Bruce Willis, Meryl Streep, and Goldie Hawn also features dinner too. Tickets are $22/$29 at 617 Texas Ave.  robinsonfilmcenter.org
