Shreveport City Councilwoman LeVette Fuller talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about comments on the Cross Bayou proposal made by councilman Willie Bradford.

At Monday's council work session, Bradford, who has vocal in his support of the billion-dollar-plus project, likened those in opposition to the plan to opponents of Dr. Martin Luther King, voting rights. The District A rep told his colleagues it reminded him of Shreveport's Jin Crow era, saying, "It's an attitude that I saw stay silent...when Dr. C.O. Simpkins house was bombed, when his office was bombed...and nobody said a word."

The City Council is expected to vote on Tuesday on giving Mayor Adrian Perkins power to negotiate a binding memorandum with Gateway Louisiana, LLC (formerly Gateway development Consortium) and other project developers of the $1.5 billion project.
