The name of a man who was killed last night in a crash on Interstate 20 in west Shreveport is being released.

At approximately 10:25 p.m. on May 9, 2011, Shreveport police patrol officers were dispatched to Interstate 20 east near the Monkhouse Drive exit relative to a vehicle striking a pedestrian there. Upon arrival, officers learned that 39 year old Nevan Mangum, of Marlin, Texas, was driving a Nissan Xterra eastbound on the interstate when he heard a loud noise.  He pulled over and walked back to investigate and saw someone lying in the median.  Mangum immediately called police.  Responding officers found 47 year old Lewis W. Ashcraft in the median. Ashcraft had apparently been struck by Mangum and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Shreveport Police crash investigators were dispatched and are working at this time to determine exactly what caused this crash.
