Shreveport City Councilman James Flurry talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about Tuesday's council session, a meeting highlighted by a walkout by three councilman, Flurry included.

Flurry tells KEEL listeners that the move was precipitated by harsh words by Mayor Adrian Perkins directed at Councilman John Nickelson, and that he (Flurry) called for a short recess, at which time he, accompanied by Nickelson and Councilman Grayson Boucher left the Council Hall.

"I was losing control of the meeting," Flurry, who also serves as Council Chairman, admitted.

The three returned to the hall after a five minute break, at which time Nickelson heatedly responded to the Mayor. Both the Mayor and Nickelson were gaveled to order by Flurry when he felt they had stepped over a line of order.
