Law enforcement agencies from across Northwest Louisiana will gather on the banks of the Red River Thursday morning to pay tribute to those among their ranks who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting their respective jurisdictions.  As part of National Police Week, local authorities will hold their annual Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. The service will be held on the terrace directly behind the Barnwell Garden and Art Center in the 600 block of Clyde Fant Parkway and will serve to honor those peace officers who died in the line of duty serving the citizens of their communities. In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th falls, as National Police Week, meaning that National Police Week 2012 will be Sunday, May 13th through Saturday, May 19th.

Citizens of Northwest Louisiana are cordially invited to join us as we gratefully remember the courageous men and women who so selflessly gave their lives in service of their fellow man.
