An east Texas teenager reported missing in Harrison County wasn't gone for long...thanks to the quick work of a sheriff's K-9 unit. At about 2:30 yesterday afternoon, a 14-year-old autistic child was reported missing by his mother. She said she last saw him in his bedroom around 8 that morning. Because of the closeness to I-20, and the heavily-wooded area near the child's home, deputies began the search for him on foot and by car. A sergeant and his K-9 partner Bruce were called out to assist, and the dog tracked the boy's scent deep into the wooded area. The child was found unharmed, but hungry, and was returned home. The sheriff's office says without Sgt. Best and his K-9 partner, the search would have taken much longer.
