Early-Morning Shooting Leaves Local Man With Life-Threatening Wound

An early-morning shooting leaves a local man fighting for his life. Shreveport police say just after 1 this morning, they arrived near the intersection of Alto Vista and Avon to find 23-year-old Surcory Odoms in a car there, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to LSU Hospital with what is described as a life-threatening wound. Detectives interviewed the other occupants of the vehicle Odoms was riding in, and believe the shooting may have happened somewhere on Illinois Avenue. They're working now to determine exactly where -- and why -- the shooting took place.
