Dr. Ray Belton Selected New Southern U. A&M Chancellor

The Board of Supervisors of the Southern University and A&M College system has selected Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA) Chancellor Dr. Ray L. Belton President/Chancellor of the Southern University A&M System.

Belton, chosen from a field of three other finalists, was interviewed by faculty, staff and students , in addition to the board. He was appointed SUSLA chancellor in 2000 after holding positions as Director, Department Head, Associate Professor, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Executive Vice Chancellor.

A press conference officially announcing Belton's appointment will be held Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the SUSLA MLK Campus, 3050 MLK Drive, in the Jesse Stone Lecture Hall.
