What do giant bugs, big mimosas, dogs of all shapes and sizes, and the Shreveport Farmers’ Market have in common?  They're all things happening downtown that makes for a family friendly, fun weekend.  Add drums and Benjamins, and we have ourselves a weekend to remember in our #CoolDowntown.

It’s hard to say goodbye to something we love, but we must. However, mimosas will make the parting just a bit easier to ‘swallow.’ Celebrate the final Shreveport Farmers’ Market with Mimosas at the Market. Come, shop and chat and hug the friends you’ve made, and don’t forget to bring bags for the final fresh produce of the season (among other goodies).  When: Saturday, Aug. 26, 7:30 am- 12:30 pm. After the Farmers’ Market, make your way to the Clear the Shelter Adoption Event at Sci-Port Discovery Center.  Fur babies aplenty will be there to steal your heart away, and maybe, just maybe to find a forever home. Did you know the riverfront has come down with a bad insect infestation? Giant bugs- dragonflies, velvet ants, hissing cockroaches and more- are part of a new bug-tastic journey which seeks to help explain some of Earth’s most misunderstood creatures. This sounds like an awesome time! Who doesn't love marching bands?  Fatty Arbuckles in the Red River District invites you to relive high school marching band but be much cooler while doing it. Come blow off a week of work-induced steam at Filigree Drum & Bass, one night only this Saturday night starting at 10 pm at Fatty Arbuckles in the River District, 450 Clyde Fant Parkway.  $8 Admission

Who says you need to chase Benjamins? The Noble Savage has already caught them for you! The popular group Chasin’ Benjamins will be jammin’ the Savage Saturday night, the perfect third course to your dinner and drinks. Live performance is Saturday, Aug. 26, 8 pm at The Noble Savage, 417 Texas St.  No cover charge.
