It seems week two of a special Shreveport Police Department operation saw fewer people "cruising" -- and fewer arrests. Shreveport officers made seven felony arrests, nine misdemeanor arrests, wrote 77 traffic citations and seized over 26 grams of suspected marijuana and one firearm. During the first weekend, officers made 46 arrests and wrote 86 tickets. There was one incident of gunfire at about 8 Sunday night at Bilberry Park while officers were there. They quickly identified two suspects and seized a stolen handgun. Two young men -- 19-year-old Larry Gardner and 20-year-old JaMarcus Sewell -- were both charged with illegal use of a weapon and illegal possession of a stolen firearm. These "cruising" operations will continue through the spring and summer.
