Shreveport City Councilman Grayson Boucher talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about that body's Monday work session at which they debated Mayor Adrian Perkins proposed $18 monthly garbage fee.

The fee proposal, which will also be the major topic at Tuesday's (February 12) regular session, has Boucher questioning what will happen to the general fund money currently funding garbage pickup if the mayor's proposal is passed. "We're going to be freeing up about $8.5 to $8.9 million dollars in the general fund. Besides just saying that it's going into reserve, I'd like to know what is the mayor's plan for that revenue."

Boucher tells KEEL listeners that "we have a lot to look at" when it comes to streamlining the city's budget and that, as a result, he is most likely not prepared to vote on a final bill at the council's Tuesday meeting.
