Chimp Haven Welcomes New Addition
It’s a girl! A 42-year-old former pet and research chimpanzee named Ginger has given birth to a baby girl at Chimp Haven — the third baby born there since the sanctuary opened. Behaviorist Amy Fultz says it will be a couple of months before the results of paternity testing come back — but she says the chimp haven staff suspects Conan since he fathered both Tracy and Valentina Rose. He’s now had three vasectomies and all of the female chimps are on birth control pills. The newest addition to the Keithville sanctuary doesn’t have a name, yet. Fultz says the Chimp Haven staff is hoping that somebody will come forward and pledge lifetime support for the new baby — to the tune of about $13-thousand a year. That person would then get to name it.
