Child Burned By Hot Water at Blanchard Day Care Center

A toddler was burned in an accident at a Blanchard church day care center.

KTBS reports it happened at First Baptist Church Daycare on Attaway Street in Blanchard. Reports indicate an employee was using very hot water to clean a microwave oven when the 13-month-old boy somehow managed to grab the bowl of hot water. The hot water spilled on the boys chest.

Blanchard Police Chief Gary Presswood tells KTBS

The liquid landed on the child's chest area and he was clothed so that afforded some protection and thankfully it didn't strike him in the head or face which could have damaged eyes or anything else.

The Louisiana Dept. of Children and Family Services as well as the LA Dept. of Education, which issues daycare licenses, have been notified.

No charges have been filed against any of the day care workers.
