March 2-8 marks National Severe Weather Preparedness Week. During this time, the Northwest Louisiana Chapter of the American Red Cross encourages individuals and families to make sure that they are prepared for the severe weather and tornadoes that often affect our communities in the spring.
The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a winter storm warning for a mixture of freezing rain and sleet, in effect until midnight, for the following counties in northeast Texas and southwest Arkansas:
It's drier and much warmer today after Shreveport-Bossier spent a couple days under a layer of ice. And to keep roads safe, Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) workers used salt to melt ice.
