The Krewe of Sobek was established in the Ark-La-Tex in 2003 and are celebrating their 10th year this year with the Krewe of Sobek Grand Bal X Friday, January 18th at the Shreveport Convention Center!

February 23, 2012 A local church celebrated Ash Wednesday in a unique way. Christ United Methodist Church offered drive-by ashes. You didn't have to get out of your car. Pastor Caroline Wilkinson says more than 40 people drove through her church on Crabapple in Southwest Shreveport to get the ashes and the drive-by blessings
Ten years ago, Bossier City leaders decided they did not want to be part of the parade route for Mardi Gras anymore. Part of the problem was security along the route. The parades rolled from Pierre Bossier Mall down Airline Drive to Barksdale Boulevard and then over the Shreveport Barksdale Bridge
Shreveport Police report 80 arrests made during the Krewe of Gemini Parade.
Based on reports from the three Shreveport Police Command Posts, there were 80 people arrested at the parade last Saturday. The arrests were mostly all misdemeanors and ran the gamut from underage possession of alcohol to public intoxication.
The Highland Parade will be held on Today, March 6th beginning at 2pm.
The parade starts at the corner of Creswell and Kings Highway going north on Creswell to Herndon heading east to Highland moving south to Olive then turning east on Centenary south past Kings Highway where it continues on Gladstone ending at Creswell.
