Shreveport Green needs volunteers to help with the 28th annual Great American Cleanup, which is set for April 14th from 8 a.m. to noon.

School groups, neighborhood organizations, colleges, businesses, scout troops, churches and other civic and social clubs step up to help clean up our community by picking up trash or planting gardens. You help is needed to make this year a great success.

The goal is to bring in more volunteers than last year. You can get registered to help before March 31 to make sure your team gets a T-shirt. On the big day, volunteers will be treated to food, prizes, and educational information booths. If you would like to sign up as an individual or a group, contact Casaundra Calloway at 318-219-1888 ext. 20, or by email at ccalloway@shreveportgreen.org.

Last year, 39 teams registered for a total of 754 people. They collected more than 58,000 pounds of trash including 319 tires.

The Great American Cleanup is part of the Keep America Beautiful campaign.
