The forum will focus on the recent deadly incidents of violence against women that have occurred in Northwest Louisiana. Panelists from Project Celebration, Family Justice Center, Caddo DA's Victim Assistance Program, and YWCA will address these issues as well as discuss suggestions for change and action.

You can help.  You'll learn some steps you can take if you are a victim. You will also find out about the strategies to help others in your life who might be in a domestic abuse relationship.

YWCA NWLA Executive Director Belinda Roberson recently issued this statement:

Louisiana is ranked the second deadliest state in America with the rate of women murdered by men increasing for the 5th straight year (The Violence Policy Center, 2018). With the recent devastating incidents in Shreveport and Bossier City in the news, the focus on this heightening problem has women and men across our city, state, region, and country expressing concern and having important discussions about domestic violence in our community. The YWCA of Northwest Louisiana hopes that the dialogues started as a result of these news stories will increase awareness about the ongoing crisis of domestic violence and continue the conversations on how we can eliminate all forms of violence against women.

Roberson added:

The recent events of domestic violence have prompted the need for examination and action towards the solution to this growing problem. We encourage individuals and organizations throughout our community to join us, along with fellow service providers and advocates in breaking the toxic cycle of domestic violence.
