UPDATE (April 19, 12:30 p.m.):  The Caddo Sheriff's Marine Unit has recovered the body of a man who authorities believed jumped from the Texas Street Bridge last Thursday.

Deputy Casey Jones located the body at around 9 a.m. about one mile south of the bridge and just north of the railroad bridge. Jones had been on river patrol about an hour when he spotted the body in the water along the bank.

The body has been turned over to the Caddo Coroner's Office. The case is being investigated by the Shreveport Police Department.


ORIGINAL STORY, April 16, 2015:  The Texas Street Bridge in downtown Shreveport has been shut down as divers search for a man who was spotted jumping from the bridge.

Caddo Sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Chadwick tells KEEL News a man and woman who were in a boat on the Red River have video of the man falling into the water.

Caddo and Bossier Sheriff's Office boats are on the River looking for him. They're being assisted by several other agencies, including the Shreveport Fire Department.

Bossier City spokesman Mark Natale says police opened the Bossier side of the bridge 30 minutes ago.
