A local man is in stable condition after a Sunday morning wreck in Bossier City.

City spokesman Mark Natale tells KEEL News 68-year-old Robert Osuna of Bossier was headed northbound on Barksdale Boulevard, when he veered off the road, crossed over into the southbound lanes of traffic and crashed into a sign in front of the Clark convenience store in the 3200 block.

Osuna had to be extracted from the vehicle. He was taken to University Health in Shreveport with serious injuries. Natale says it appears he may have suffered a medical emergency, our sources say a seizure, that caused him to lose control of his vehicle. He was the only occupant.

Natale says Osuna was wearing a seat belt and the truck's air bag deployed, both of which likely saved his life.

A family member tells me Osuna remains in ICU with multiple fractures and lacerations, but his injuries aren't life-threatening. He does have several surgeries ahead.
