May 4th is the deadline for 2012 "Angel Award" nominations. The award is presented by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation, and recognizes residents who go beyond the call of duty in their volunteer efforts to improve the lives of our state's at-risk children. The Angel Award includes a $20,000 grant for each honoree's charity. The 2011 honorees included a northeast Louisiana woman who battles chronic hunger by providing meals to Monroe-area children -- and a Baton Rouge man who created a safe haven for children to learn. To nominate someone you know for the award, click on the link below, then on "Programs," then "The Angel Award."
