SHREVEPORT, LA-  Shreveport Police jail four men after drag racing incident

On November 4th, 2023, around 11:30 p.m. officers with the Shreveport Police Department were in the area of Clyde Fant Parkway in reference to reports of drag racing and other careless operation of vehicle complaints. Officers located multiple vehicles spinning their tires to generate smoke and driving in the grassy area of the parkway.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on multiple vehicles, however, four vehicles fled at an extremely high rate of speed. The vehicles sped away driving, irradicably, and committed multiple traffic violations. With the assistance of multiple officers in the area, the four drivers were arrested for Aggravated flight from in a motor vehicle, Drag racing, and other offenses. All vehicles involved in the incident were impounded.

Chief Wayne Smith and the Shreveport Police Department want our community to know that research shows crashes at 70 miles per hour carry a 75% chance of being fatal. Crashes involving vehicles traveling 80 miles per hour carry a 90% chance of being fatal. Excessive speeding and Reckless Operation of vehicles that endanger our community will not be tolerated.
