A toddler is wounded in an overnight shooting in Shreveport.

Police say the 3-year-old somehow got ahold of a handgun inside a bedroom of a home in the 3600 block of Colquitt Road and accidentally shot himself in the face. There were other children and adults at the house at the time.

The little boy was taken to Willis-Knighton, then transported to University Health. He is expected to survive.

Detectives say no charges have been filed in connection with the shooting, but an investigation continues.
