Three people will vie for the open Caddo Parish School Board District 11 seat.

The vacancy was created when member Kacee Kirschvink resigned May 19 to take a job in south Louisiana. Jim Hewitt, Parker Ward and Shalanda Swift-Watkins have all submitted letters of intent to the board president.

The board will meet in a special session at 11 Friday morning to interview candidates and name an interim board member. The person selected will serve until a special election can be held on October 24.

According to a Caddo Schools news release, interviews will be conducted in the following format:

Each candidate will have 10 minutes for interviews.

Each candidate will present an opening statement addressing: A) His or her reasons for desiring to serve as interim board member. B) His or her special skills or experience to offer as a board member. C) His or her perspective on the role of a board member. D) Board members will be allowed to clarify any responses given by applicants. Each candidate will be allowed to make any final summary statement if time permits.
