An 18-wheeler accident has caused some major tie-ups on I-49 today.

Sheriff Steve Prator says 31-year-old Anthony Henderson of Lavonia, Georgia, was headed northbound near the Vivian-Gilliam exit at around 10:30 this morning, when he ran off the road and into the median. He over-corrected, flipping the tractor-trailer rig onto its side. He was taken to University Health with minor injuries.

Henderson was hauling a trailer full of cardboard boxes, which partially spilled onto the roadway. Crews have been busy trying to off-load the freight onto another trailer.

The wreck has the northbound lanes blocked. Traffic is being diverted to the off-ramp, but is able to re-enter I-49 at the next on-ramp.

The accident remains under investigation by the Caddo Sheriff's Patrol Division and Traffic Safety Unit.
