BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Louisiana's 5th District congressional race has a new candidate with a "Duck Dynasty" connection.

Zach Dasher, a Republican whose uncle is the TV family patriarch Phil Robertson, announced Monday that he's running for the seat in the Nov. 4 election.

Dasher, from Calhoun, has never run for office. He says he received the support of his family — including his famous uncles and cousins — before announcing his candidacy.

The district's current congressman, Republican Vance McAllister, won the seat last year with support of the "Duck Dynasty" family. But after his election, security footage emerged that showed McAllister kissing a married woman who worked in his office.

McAllister announced he wouldn't seek re-election, but he's been less definitive recently, saying he'll make a decision by the August sign-up period.
