Woman's Body Found Floating in Cross Bayou

[UPDATE, July 14, 2015] The Caddo Coroner's Office says the woman found floating in Cross Bayou is identified as 36-year-old Jonvonnie Spearman.

[ORIGINAL STORY, July 13, 2015] Shreveport police are looking into the death of a woman whose body was found floating in Cross Bayou over the weekend.

Police say two men who were fishing in the 3700 block of Old Blanchard Highway found the body floating in the bayou just off the roadway. She's believed to have been dead for several days.

The body was recovered from the water and sent to the Caddo Coroner's Office for an autopsy. Authorities are waiting for official identification, but say the remains are those of an African-American adult female.
