SHREVEPORT, LA-  Woman leads Shreveport police officers in a vehicle pursuit, then assault officers during the stop.

On August 11th, 2023, around 11:18 p.m. officers responded to a disorderly person at a local hotel in the 5100 block of Westwood Park Drive. As officers arrived the suspect fled in a vehicle. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspects’ vehicle however the suspect refused to stop, and a pursuit ensued.

The vehicle abruptly stopped at Jewella Avenue and Mansfield Road; the driver then reportedly attacked officers. Officers were able to take the suspect into custody. The driver was identified as Ronesha Smith (11-1-96).

Smith was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Flight from an officer, one count of simple battery, one count of aggravated obstruction of a highway, and one count of aggravated assault of an officer.

No injuries were reported. We are required to remind you that suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
