101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty discuss mayor Adrian Perkins' proposed $18 a month "Clean City Fee," which would go to increase the salaries of Shreveport sanitation workers, vehicle maintenance and shore up the city's depleted reserve "rainy day" fund.

The morning duo also talks about the possibility of the city subsidizing a portion of the fee, if passed, by means testing those unable to pay the monthly increase. The City's Department of Water and Sewer currently has a similar plan in place, assisting some citizens with their water bills. If Perkins proposal becomes law, the fee would become part of water users monthly bill.

Wright and McCarty also replay sound bites by Councilman Willie Bradford, who becomes emotional in describing a constituents reaction to the proposed increase and Ben Riggs, the Mayor's Communications Manager, responding to questions how the subsidies might be implemented.
