EAST KINGS 1

Will the massive construction project at Shreveport Barksdale and East Kings Highway be complete in time for the first Mardis Gras parade later this month?

Lots of local folks are concerned about that. The work is part of the overall state project to revamp the Youree and East Kings intersection. Right now there is a big hole in the turn lane to go from Shreveport Barksdale to East Kings. Only one lane is open in each direction at that intersection. Crews have been out in force working extra hours to get that section of the project complete in time for the Krewe of Centaur parade on January 30th. But if it's not complete, Shreveport Chief Administrative Office Brian Crawford tells us the floats will be able to make the turn at that location. He does say the construction area will be a "no throw" zone, so he advises residents to set up at other locations along the parade route.
