One of the most celebrated musical acts of the last 40 years will be coming to Shreveport in 2022. 5-time Grammy Award winner Weird Al Yankovic has announced he's coming to Shreveport's Strand Theatre.

Weird Al is bringing his The Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour to the Strand Theatre on Friday October 7th, 2022. Tickets have not gone on sale yet.

This won't be a normal Weird Al show though...although, saying "normal Weird Al show" seems odd. How about saying that this will be a different Weird Al show than you've probably ever seen before.

The Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour will be a "scaled down" Weird Al tour. This means limited production, no costumes, limited props, and no video screens. The tour is aiming for smaller, more intimate venues, with smaller crowds than a standard Weird Al show.

Perhaps the most important part of the tour you will need to know about is the fact that most of the Weird Al setlist will be made up of original songs. That means very few, if any, parody songs will be performed during the show. You may hear some massive hit parody songs, like "Eat It" or "I Love Rocky Road"...but that might be it.

So what will Weird Al play instead?

There are actually a lot of original songs in Weird Al's history. Songs like “Dare To Be Stupid”, “Albuquerque”, “Your Horoscope For Today”, "Skipper Dan", and "The Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota".

The opening act reportedly will be comedian Emo Philips.

There are COVID-19 guidelines currently posted for Weird Al's tour. Those guidelines do include a COVID vaccination requirement. The tour rules do state they will accept a negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of the show date in place of vaccination status.

More details on tickets are expected soon.
