It's called "Operation Dry Water" and it's planned for this weekend. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agents will be out in force on the state's waterways -- looking for boat operators whose blood alcohol content exceeds the state limit of .08 percent. Agents say Louisiana had 36 boating fatalities in 2011 and five of those listed alcohol as a primary cause. In Louisiana, a DWI on the water carries the same penalties and fines as a DWI on the road -- first offense carries of fine of $300 to $1000 and up to six months in jail.
