Want to Buy a Haunted Island? Poveglia Is Among Most Haunted Places on Earth

Imagine, a beautiful island located just offshore from Venice. It's  is for sale to the highest bidder. Yet all is not what it seems. This island has a haunted past which continues to echo into the present.

Between Venice and Lido lies the tiny island of Poveglia. For hundreds of years it housed the sick, mentally ill and dying. A number of psychics consider this island one of the most haunted places in all the world.

Beside a prison and asylum, the "island of doom" also served as Napoleon Bonaparte's headquarters for a time. Now, the Italian Government is offering up a 99-year lease to perspective companies looking for build a resort hotel. Some have suggested it as a potential site for a Disney style amusement park.

I can almost see the marquee: "Welcome to the creepiest place on earth."
