Vivian Man Killed in Overnight ATV Crash
An ATV crash in north Caddo Parish leaves a Vivian man dead.
At around midnight, Caddo sheriff's deputies were called to 10186 Cross Creek Private Drive. They learned 40-year-old David L. Terry hit an embankment and flipped his side-by-side vehicle while traveling at a high rate of speed down the drive. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the ATV. A passenger was belted and suffered only minor injuries.
North Caddo EMS transported Terry to North Caddo Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Terry was hosting a gathering at his house when the crash happened.
The Caddo Sheriff's Traffic Safety Unit is investigating whether alcohol played a part in the crash.
This is the second fatal ATV wreck in our area this week. A mid-day Monday accident killed 37-year-old Brandon Severance of Bossier City. He failed to make a turn in the roadway near Lake Bistineau, when his ATV hit a tree and overturned. Both he and his passenger, a 34-year-old Haughton woman, were thrown from the vehicle. Neither was wearing a helmet.
Severance was pronounced dead at University Health. His passenger was seriously injured, but survived.
Both ATV accidents are still being investigated.
