Vigil For Alton Sterling Postponed

A vigil scheduled for Friday evening to honor Alton Sterling has been postponed.

The vigil was to be held on the steps of the Caddo Parish Courthouse from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday evening, but organizers cancelled the event early Friday morning in the wake of the sniper attacks that killed five police officers in Dallas, TX.

On Thursday evening, social media posts about the vigil had become negative, calling for riots and civil unrest. It is not immediately known the exact reasons the organizers cancelled the event, but the threats of violence may have something to do with it. Organizers will release their reasons for the cancellation later today.
