The Advocate is reporting that Louisiana must reduce carbon dioxide from power plants in order to combat climate change.

The Obama administration ironically has demanded that Louisiana reduce CO2 by a whopping 40 percent in the next four years -- one of the largest decreases ordered in the state-by-state goals.

The fact is Louisiana doesn't utilize coal very much. Coal creates more carbon dioxide than most other fuels.

No one is sure why Louisiana was chosen over other more coal-dependent states.

States will have until June 30, 2016 to create a plan on how to implement the rule and reduce their average emissions per megawatt-hour of electricity.
