Looking to capture some of the magic of Christmas for yourself and your family? You won't have to drive far to see two towns that were recently named among the 20 Best Small Towns to Visit for Christmas in the United States.

Natchitoches, LA is well known for being a gorgeous place to visit during the holidays and is just a short hour and 20-minute drive away, but did you know that Natchez, MS is nationally recognized as well? It's a bit further away at three hours and fifteen minutes away from Shreveport, but according to TripstoDiscover.com, both towns are worth the time and gas.

I'm a little embarrassed to admit I've never been to Natchitoches for the Christmas Festival. It's something I aim to fix this year. TripstoDiscover.com says that Natchitoches, 'showcases more than 300,000 lights and 100 set pieces for its downtown display. Set along the banks of Cane River Lake, the city has a six-week-long Christmas Festival celebration that started way back in 1927.' They also suggest taking a romantic carriage ride. Seeing how I'm the Crazy Horse Lady on the Radio™, you can count me in!

The only time I've been to Natchez, MS is when I was a child and my family was touring the Natchez Trace. I remember the area being absolutely gorgeous with tons of historical markers. TripstoDiscover.com suggests going this weekend (Thanksgiving weekend) for their annual tree-lighting event which features 'pyrotechnics set to music, visits with Santa, caroling around the tree, and tasty food vendors.' They also say the shopping is excellent!

No matter what your plans are for the holidays, from our family to yours, have a safe and Merry Christmas!
