Shreveport Police are investigating two separate shootings that happened in Shreveport, one of which left a man dead.

The first one happened just after 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday April 11, 2017. Shreveport Police officers were called to a convenience store located in the 3700 block of Hollywood Avenue when someone reported a man who had been shot there. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered 23-year-old Carlos Taylor, of Shreveport, laying in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body. Taylor died shortly after his arrival at University Health hospital.

Based on information collected during the initial stages of the investigation, it is believed Taylor was standing outside the Mini Mart gas station when he was shot by an unknown assailant who fled the scene, leaving in a white four-door Dodge Charger. Portions of the shooting were captured on video surveillance.

The second shooting happened on Wednesday April 12th, 2017 at approximately 3:20 PM. Shreveport Police Officers responded to reports of a shooting at 2100 Grimmett Drive at the Grimmett Drive Apartments.

Officers arrived on scene and located 18-year-old Dimitri McLaurin of the 700 block of March Street, who suffered at least one gunshot wound to his upper body. McLaurin was transported to University Health by the Shreveport Fire Department.

The preliminary investigation revealed that McLaurin was shot inside of an apartment and the assailant fled the scene on foot. A description of the assailant has not been determined but investigators are confident that the suspect’s identity is known by persons in the neighborhood.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about either shooting to call Crimestoppers at (318) 673-7373 or visit their website at www.lockemup.org.
