Trump Plane Forced To Land In New Orleans After Engine Failure
After former President Donald Trump spoke with Republican donors in New Orleans, his flight had to turnaround after taking off.
Politico reports that the former President's plane was in the air for between 20 and 30 minutes before an engine failed while in the air. At that point, the pilot decided to make an "emergency landing" back in New Orleans. But Politico added that a source with knowledge of the situation disputed the term "emergency".
According to the report, once the President's private plane was back on the ground, the Republican National Committee reached out to donors to secure a plane the former President could use. They were eventually able to find one, and Trump was back in Florida around 3am on Sunday.
So why was Trump in New Orleans in the first place? Politico filled in that part as well:
"...90-minute speech before donors Saturday at the Four Seasons Hotel in New Orleans, where he spoke on a range of topics. According to a recording of the speech, he jokingly suggested the U.S. “bomb the shit out of Russia” with planes bearing the Chinese flag; called one of his nemeses in Congress, Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff of California, a “watermelon head;" and called another critic, attorney George Conway, a “son of a bitch.”
Even though this situation took place over the weekend, the details of the engine failure didn't come to light until Wednesday. Once news got out, publications scrambled to find details. Everything from what time the flight left, to who owned the airplane. But through all the reporting, there have been multiple disputes over the finer details of the story.
