Three Year Old Accidentally Shot In Caddo Parish
Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office Press has released the details following an accidental shooting involving a 3 year old child.
CPSO Press department had this to say:
"Caddo Deputies investigate an accidental shooting involving a three-year-old in south Caddo Parish, said Sheriff Steve Prator.
On Saturday, about 2:40PM, Corporal Michael Page responded to Willis Knighton South Hospital, on reports of a three-year-old that arrived to the emergency room with a gunshot wound to the right shoulder.
Cpl. Page reported the victim’s mother, Diamond Taylor, 31, out of Keithville transported the three-year-old by private vehicle to Willis Knighton South Hospital. Later, the victim was transported by ambulance to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport due to the injury. The victim’s wound is considered non-life threatening, and he is in stable condition.
After further investigation, Caddo Deputies were told the incident took place in the 1900 block of Post Oak Drive. Caddo Sheriff’s Deputy Johnphilip Campbell along with Sgt. Robert Presley responded to secure the scene. Deputy Campbell observed movement inside the residence.
After a short stand-off, Deputy Campbell later arrested Jecory Harris, 28, out of Shreveport for obstruction of justice by tampering with evidence inside th
e residence. Harris’s arrest is unrelated to the shooting.
Caddo Sheriff’s Detective Dennis Williams conducted interviews and Caddo’s CSI processed the scene. A gun was located at the scene inside the victim’s bedroom. It was later determined the three-year-old found the gun on his own, accidentally shot himself while out of view from the mother inside the residence.
This investigation is still on-going."
