Theft at Shreveport Home Depot Leads to Foot Chase With Police
Talk about a very unlucky thief!
Shreveport Police was called to the Pines Road Home Depot because a man had taken an item off the shelf without paying. SPD was on the way, but quickly got another call about the man leaving and walking down Pines Road.
Police combed the area looking for the guy, and finally spotted him walking through a row of fast food restaurants. When SPD ran up on the guy, he ran OFF making the Police chase after him. SPD even tried using a taser to take him down but unfortunately it didn't work.
SPD caught up to him and tried taking him to the ground, but the guy fought back, even at one point trying to snatch one of the Officer's guns. Fortunately there were two people who saw the Police struggling and decided to jump in and help. Thanks to them, Police were able to arrest Amos Washington on several charges including:
· Resisting an officer with force or violence
· Attempting to disarm a police officer
· Theft
From SPD:
"The Shreveport Police Department commends the officers for their professionalism and bravery in handling this dangerous situation. Additionally, we extend our sincere gratitude to the citizens who selflessly intervened, helping ensure the safety of everyone involved."
