This is a pretty big deal, the X-Men are making their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Which might not mean a lot to the average fan, but let me see if I can explain why its a big deal really quick.

Before Disney owned Marvel, Fox Studios actually had the rights to make a lot of comic book movies for Marvel character. Including the X-Men. So the classic X-Men movies with Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart weren't made by the same company or people as Thor, Captain America, and The Avengers. But now that Disney has reacquired those movie rights, they can make X-Men movies in the same universe as Loki and Dr. Strange.

I hope that makes sense...if not, just know its a big deal to a lot of really geeky people.

Which is why we're all getting really excited over today's news from San Diego Comic Con. Where Marvel Studios has made some big announcements. Including new details on X-Men 97, the latest addition to the X-Men mythos, and the first Disney-based Marvel Studios X-Men project.

This is expected to be a continuation of the extremely popular X-Men animated series from the 1990s. The show will stream on Disney+, and will begin in the Fall of 2023, according to today's announcement.

One of the best parts of this project, is that the voice cast from the original series will be returning for the new show. Including Geek'd Con 2022 guest Lenore Zann, who voices Rogue in the original X-Men show, and will be back on Disney+ next year.

X-Men the Animated Series is one of the most iconic cartoons of all time (especially the theme), and Rogue was one of it's breakout characters. It's safe to say without the cartoon, and Zann's voice work, Rogue would have never achieved the success the character has. In fact, when IGN ranked their Top Animated Character's Of The 90's, Zann's performance as Rogue made the Top 50.

In fact, IGN ranked her ahead of legends like Stewie Griffin, Lisa Simpson, Squidward Tentacles, Chuckie Finster, Johnny Bravo, and Kenny from South Park. That's how important Rogue was in the 1990s, all because of Zann and X-Men the Animated Series.

Also appearing at Geek'd Con will be the creator of X-Men member Rogue, comic book artist Michael Golden. So you can meet two of the most important people in the history of Rogue in downtown Shreveport!

Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con, is set to return August 19th-21st at the Shreveport Convention Center. The 2022 Geek'd Con will be the 7th show in Downtown Shreveport since 2015.
