Around 35% of the population has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of May 12, and vaccinations are an essential component for reopening of the economy. WalletHub today released updated rankings for the Safest States During COVID-19.

In order to find out the safest states during the COVID-19 pandemic, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across five key metrics. The data set includes the rates of COVID-19 transmission, positive testing, hospitalizations and death, as well as the share of the eligible population getting vaccinated.

Children as young as 12 can now be vaccinated, and with more vaccinations going around places will naturally be safer to travel to. The following is an updated list of the top 10 and bottom 10 states from safest, to least-safe. The full list can be found on WalletHub.
