Texas Rangers Name New Skipper

The Texas Rangers announced a new hire that Rangers fans hope usher in a new era in Rangers baseball. The Rangers have inked a deal with legendary Bruce Bochy as their 20th full-time manager in club history.

Bochy comes to Arlington after being a special advisor to the San Francisco Giants.  He hasn't been a full-time manager since 2019, when he was manager for the Giants since 2007. Prior to the Giants, Bochy was manager for the San Diego Padres from 1995-2006.  In fact, the Rangers are the first American League team for Bochy, having spent his entire career managing in the National League West.

Since 2014, the Rangers have only managed 2 winning seasons. But bringing in a legitimate hire like Bochy shows that the Rangers' management is serious about turning things around.

But this is also exciting news for Shreveport fans after the recent announcement that Rev Entertainment is planning on investing in a new stadium and sports/entertainment complex at the site of the old Fairgrounds Field and State Fair of Louisiana.  Major League Baseball recently announced they want to develop farm teams within a 300 mile radius of major league teams, and Shreveport certainly fills that bill.  Shreveport's Fairgrounds Field used to be the home of the Shreveport Captains, who at one time, were a AA farm team for the San Francisco Giants. Rev Entertainment, based in Dallas Texas, manages Globe Life Field, the current home of the Texas Rangers, as well as the historic Choctaw Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Choctaw facility is used for the XFL Dallas Renegades and the North Texas Soccer Club which is the reserve team for FC Dallas.

Mayor Perkins announced a deal with Rev Entertainment that will bring a new $70 million dollar stadium to the fairgrounds capable of hosting baseball, soccer games, and other events.  The deal will also include Rev Entertainment managing Independence Stadium, home to the Independence Bowl.
