It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year and the Booziest Time of the Year.

At least for me and my family. We love getting together and eating and drinking until our hearts are content. In some cases, we go overboard and drink way too much and eat way too much to the point where we all look at each other like "we overdid it". One thing my family never runs out of is liquor. My brothers are the kings of staying stocked up and they make sure we never run out of the necessities for festivities.

Have You Ever Been Mid-Party and You Run Out of Booze?

If you have never experienced that let me just tell you that it is one of the worst feelings ever. The music is playing and everyone is having a great time the drinks are flowing up until someone says "We are out of tequila". That signature Christmas margarita was more of a hit than you thought it would be, and now someone needs to find a liquor store that's open. We have bad news if you have not stocked up on liquor and you call Texas home.

Texas Liquor Stores Will Be Closed for 61 Hours Twice.

Who can we thank for these closures? TABC, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. The 21st Amendment repealed Prohibition and let states regulate the sale of alcohol and of course, Texas just had to be Texas about it.

Texas Doesn't Allow the Sale of Liquor on Certain Holidays.

We all know you can't purchase liquor on Sundays and the holidays that exclude liquor sales are Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. If it's just one day how does that make it to be a 61-hour purchase ban? When a holiday falls on a Sunday, liquor sales are also banned on the following Monday. There is no exact reason why liquor stores are banned from selling liquor the following Monday but once again, Texas is going to Texas.

Texas liquor stores will close at 9:00 p.m. and can't open until Tuesday, December 27th at 10:00 a.m. The same phenomenon will happen all over again from December 31st until Tuesday, January 3rd.
