Retired Shreveport Police Sergeant and candidate for the Caddo parish Commission Jim Taliaferro talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the upcoming civil service test to be taken by those hoping to be the city's next police chief.

Taliaferro gives KEEL listeners insight into what's on the test, how much study is - or can be - done by the applicants and how important he thinks the results of the test are in evaluating those wanting to head the SPD.

And the former cops opinion? "Paramount," says Taliaferro. "The one thing that I've always believed in is being a good role model and increase morale within the department. A lot of that (the test) is how you manage personnel, what your philosophies are in managing and leading and that's what the test...is designed to do."
